Crash Bandicoot 5 Was Quietly Cancelled – Rumour

Four years have passed since the release of Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time, causing aficionados of the franchise to question when the next edition will arrive. The subsequent game may have been discreetly stopped in production according to an individual potentially associated with the project.

Nicholas Kole, a renowned illustrator and character artist who collaborated with Toys for Bob on both Spyro Reignited Trilogy and Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time, recently expressed his views on Twitter about Project Dragon. Project Dragon is an undisclosed game under development at an unidentified studio where Kole was involved for three years until its recent termination.

In his conversation, responding to a fan's curiosity about whether Project Dragon was a new Spyro game, Kole clarified it wasn't but hinted at the existence of "the Crash 5 that never was." He further expressed disappointment if people discovered about it.

It can be inferred that Crash Bandicoot 5 might have been under development at Toys for Bob before it was presumably discontinued. Kole further clarified in his tweets that Project Dragon and Crash 5 were separate projects handled at different studios.

The year 2024 marked notable happenings for Toys for Bob. Following significant layoffs in February under the new parent company, Microsoft, it was shortly revealed after that that Toys for Bob had bought itself from Activision and Microsoft, becoming autonomous.

Despite gaining independence, Microsoft will still market Toys for Bob's forthcoming game, as officially disclosed in May. There have been speculations that the proposed game is Spyro 4, which has been in development since January this year.
