Genshin Impact Announces New Voice Actor for Tighnari
Genshin Impact fans were treated to a pleasant surprise when a leaked video revealed that actor Zachary Gordon would be taking on the role of Tighnari, the Dendro user from Sumeru. Tighnari's previous voice actor Elliot Gindi was recast by miHoYo following accusations of sexual misconduct, blackmail and making transphobic remarks.
To replace Gindi, miHoYo chose Gordon, an experienced voice actor known for playing Greg Heffley in the Diary of a Wimpy Kid movie series and Hayner in Kingdom Hearts 3. Fans of Genshin Impact are eagerly awaiting the version 3.6 update to hear Gordon's interpretation of Tighnari, as the leaked 20-second video wasn't enough to get a real sense of what the character will sound like.
Fans have had mixed reactions following the reveal of Gordon as Tighnari's new English VA. Some are surprised to hear the voice of Greg Heffley playing the Forest Watcher, while others note that Gordon's voice seems to fit Tighnari better. However, a few expressed that they preferred Gindi's take on the character.
Still, Tighnari remains to be one of the most popular Genshin Impact characters, with his and Zhongli's banners reportedly earning miHoYo over $19 million. Despite the change in voice actor, players are likely to continue picking up the character for his flexible playstyle, serious damage, and crit rate.
All in all, it will still be exciting to hear what Gordon can bring to the table in terms of portraying Tighnari. With his experience in voice acting, Gordon is sure to bring something to the character that Gindi did not. With the version 3.6 update set for the 12th of April, Genshin Impact fans won't have to wait too long to experience Tighnari's new English voice lines.
