Phasmophobia Reveals Ambitious 2024 Roadmap
Larian Studios, creators of the renowned RPG Baldur’s Gate 3, have been in active discussions with Microsoft about recent measures taken against players on the Xbox platform. Users found themselves banned for sharing gameplay content that was explicit in nature. The root of the problem lies in the automatic uploading of gameplay by the Xbox system, which often occurs without the players' explicit consent. The issue came to light when a Reddit user appealed against their ban, which had been put in place despite their argument that the fault lay in the system's default settings rather than their own intentions. This scenario sparked a debate over privacy concerns, as Larian Studios pointed out the importance of seeking user permission before uploading any content.
In the world of paranormal gaming, Kinetic Games has unveiled an ambitious roadmap for Phasmophobia which points towards a future filled with updates. The roadmap suggests an end to the game's Early Access period and holds the promise of a rollout to console platforms eventually. The developers are switching gears from tying down updates to specific release dates to a more fluid model, which ensures new features and bug fixes will reach the players without delay.
The new schedule teases the arrival of a challenging gameplay location, the Point Hope Lighthouse, which will offer ghost hunters a sense of heightened tension through its tight spaces and circular design. This upcoming feature has undergone recent enhancements, especially with the addition of a dedicated Concept Artist to the team.
Furthermore, the roadmap announces reimaginings of existing farmhouse maps - Bleasdale and Grafton. They are set to be more distinct with their own unique themes, the former turning into a grand mansion and the latter experiencing a transformation into a run-down workshop vibe.
Gameplay-wise, there’s plenty to get excited about, with new tasks, objectives, and a revamped reward system on the horizon. The roadmap also introduces a sound recorder to deepen investigation techniques.
Console enthusiasts, while facing a bit of a wait, have been assured that their patience will be met with a fully optimized version of Phasmophobia. When it finally arrives on consoles, it will feature the latest updates, including enhanced shop functionality, new leveling routes, equipment tweaks, and superior graphics - aligning it with the PC version's capabilities.
The roadmap culminates with Phasmophobia’s official departure from Early Access upon the release of the 1.0 update. This future update is expected to encompass a wide array of enhancements, including brand-new player models and animations, increased customization options, updated versions of the ghost models, a complete reworking of how hunts function, and the addition of new interactive elements such as hallucinations to enrich the gameplay experience.
