YouTube to Get Its UI Updated on All Devices
YouTube will soon look different. And not only look: the upcoming update will make it easier to search certain fragments of the video or focus on a certain part of the screen. This is one of the biggest updates recently, changing the entire YouTube experience for the better. In addition, it implements elements of Material You design, which is a thing for Google now.
One of the most noticeable features of this update is the addition of ambient background color. It will fit the picture of the video dynamically, making the entire frame around the video look like an extension of it. This feature has been present on many TVs for decades, and now it’s coming to YouTube to make your experience more immersive.
Another update is a frame-by-frame search. As you move the cursor along the progress bar, it will show you all the frames of the video, not just the key ones like it was before. This way, you can easily find the fragment or even the frame you need. When you find it, you can stop and focus on it (if there is some text or other information that requires a pause).
But what’s the most impressive for most users is (finally!) the Pinch-to-Zoom feature. Now, you can just make a traditional gesture on the screen of your phone or tablet to magnify certain fragments of the video. It’s great when you’re watching, for example, a video from a street camera that covers a large area, but the event you’re interested in takes place in a small part of it.
There are also interface updates. Links (Share, Create, Subscribe, etc.) are now transformed into buttons, making the whole app look more Material You. Also, the Dark Mode is now getting darker. According to YouTube, it will make colors brighter and the picture more impressive.
The update will arrive on all the devices supporting YouTube. Have you already received it, and if so, did you like what you saw? Which of the new features impressed you the most? Tell us what you think about it in the comments!
